Body Wrap Ingredients

Body Wrap Product Ingredients

There are many different ingredients that are widely used for body wrap products.  Here is a list of the body wrap ingredients and their purpose when used in the body wrap products.

There are in alphabetical order only and are not listed as one ingredient is better than another.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera absorbs into the body 4 times faster than water, which helps to normalize fluid levels by regulating the acid/alkaline balance in the body to reduce inflammation and fluid retention, allowing toxins to flow out of the cells more freely and nutrients to flow in.

Bentonite Clay

Bentonite Clay absorbs toxins, fats and oils, and can never be absorbed by the body so it’s not harmful in any way. Bentonite Clay is so effective because it is negatively charged, and most toxins in our body have a positive charge. It acts like a magnet that attracts toxins and draws them into the center of the clay where it is held.  We usually see clay used in facial products to help with acne to help dry up and draw out the bacteria.

Bladderwrack

Bladderwrack is a form of kelp that has been used medicinally for centuries. The main use of the herb has been for the stimulation of the thyroid gland, as a treatment for obesity and cellulite. The high iodine content of the herb stimulates thyroid function, which boosts metabolism.

Butcher’s Broom

Butcher’s Broom was approved by the authoritative German Commission E as a supportive therapy for chronic venous insufficiency – a condition causing pain, swelling, and fatigue in the calves. Chronic venous insufficiency is related to varicose veins. The Commission also recommended butchers broom for treatment of hemorrhoids. At least one clinical trial found that butchers broom may relieve lymphedema (arm swelling) following treatments for breast cancer.

Dandelion

Dandelion is used by modern naturopathic physicians to detoxify the liver and reduce the side effects of prescription medications.

Guarana

The benefits of the Guarana are almost endless. It acts as a mild stimulant, antioxidant, enhances memory, calms the nerves, tones, balances and strengthens the heart, relieves pain, helps to suppress the appetite, lowers blood pressure and increases fat burning. It is widely used in oral diet supplements, but is just as powerful when absorbed into the body through the use or application of body wraps.

Horse Chestnut

Horse Chestnut is an astringent, anti-inflammatory herb that helps to tone the vein walls which, when slack or distended, may become varicose, hemmoroidal or otherwise problematic. The plant also reduces fluid retention by increasing the permeability of the capillaries and allowing the absorption of excess fluid back into the circulatory system.

Japanese Green Tea

Japanese Green Tea has been the focus of exciting new studies indicating its effectiveness in raising metabolism for weight loss, and preventing and fighting cancer and other diseases with its super antioxidants.

Kelp

Kelp is good for those troubled by water weight. Diuretics clean out the system and assist in shedding water and the toxins in the system. Kelp is the number one herb for supplementing iodine.

Magnesium

Magnesium is a drawing agent that works in conjunction with the bentonite clay to remove heavy metals like aluminium and Lead as well as toxins out of the body. Magnesium draws the toxins to the surface so bentonite clay can attract them. Magnesium also stays in the system for days after, to continue the detox process.

Methyl-Sufonyl-Methane (MSM)

MSM is a natural chemical in green plants such as Equisetum arvense, certain algae, fruits, vegetables, and grains.

MSM may be of some use for skin problems, GI upset, and certain cancers. MSM is also said to alleviate musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, and allergies; to boost the immune system; and to possess antimicrobial effects. MSM has been suggested for use as a food supplement.

In summary, these are just some of the ingredients that can be found in body wrap products that are beneficial to the body when the body wrap is applied.  There are other ingredients, such as calcium, potassium, natural preservatives and even a host of different types of clays (white, blue, green, red).

There are also companies that use more herbs; either in powder form or in an oil form.

If you are allergic to anything that you know, it is always wise to get a list or at least let your body wrap technician know of any allergies so they can be sure their body wrap product is safe for you to use.

  3. Roxanne

I really appreciate your article and you defending body wraps and telling how you have tried them and have had good results. I will be trying one the first time next weekend. I must admit I was skeptical and this is why I began a search, trying to read different opinions…I found yours very positive and since you were not trying to sale me anything or reccomend buying something from your salon I trust your review.

Again thanks so much for your thoughts

    Roxanne

      Hi Roxanne,

Thank you so much for you nice comments. I really appreciate it.

I am not sure why you are seeking out body wraps; detox, inch loss, ect., but if it is for weight loss
then a body wrap will not provide that immediately. If I had a better understanding of what you are trying to achieve, then I could serve you better.

I really want you to know that so you do not get discouraged. When looking to make any kind of change “detoxing”
I believe is a great way to start… kind of like, “out with the old, in with the new.”

Roxanne, you can trust that I will not ever suggest anything to anyone that I have not tried myself or believe it can benefit someone for the good. So if there is something on here that can be purchased, it means I have found the best place or price. For me it really about the highest quality and the highest values and ethics of the company. So rest assured, if I find that it is not and they are not, then you won’t find it here.

If I can help you in any way, please feel free to keep in touch with me.

And by the way… I love your email address. And I DO! 🙂

      Be well and God Bless,

      Andrea

  4. Hi Andrea:

I just ordered an FAR Infrared Sauna Dome for Detox and weight loss. My question is can I use a herbal wrap such as Aloe Vera and other powdered herbs to wrap the body first, do I soak the bandages in the herbal mixture then apply to the body or apply on the body then wrap the body in bandages then lay in the sauna dome or what???? Or can you just lay in the sauna dome for 35 min. with a thin layer of cotton clothing on and lose inches???

Just not sure how to do a body wrap correctly. HELP!!!

    Thank you,

    Donna

    • Hi Donna,

Thank you for contacting me. I am happy to help you in any way I can.

First of all, no creams or lotions are need for the infrared to be effective.

If you choose to use a product such as bandages soaked in an Aloe or Herbal or Mineral base, then you need to be sure to not wrap client too tightly so as not to cut off any circulation.

To play it safe for you and your client, just wrap client as if they are wearing a full body girdle.
For a basic way to wrap, start at the ankle and work up to top of leg into groin area….firm even pressure.
The use a bandage to scoop and lift the buttocks, making sure to have bandage going around and also covering the hips and flattening and lifting tummy.

You can cover any remaining torso area and either leave the breasts exposed or cover lightly.

If wrapping the client’s arms…start at wrist with even but not too firm tension as to not cut off circulation and to be sure that client can still bend arm comfortably.

You will need to cover your table with a plastic drop cloth (I use the .7 mil ones from Walmart)… then have your client lie down on plastic and cocoon them in the plastic to catch any drippings.

If not wrapping in bandages, (and still using the plastic drop cloth) client can just lie under the dome in their underwear and with a small towel covering their bust…. or client can wear a cotton t shirt and even cotton yoga type pants to catch their sweat.

Keep client in the dome for at least 35 minutes for detox purposes. For better ‘fat burning’ then it is recommended that the client stay in the infrared for 35 minutes

        after

they begin to break a sweat. Usually people begin to sweat at the 10 min. or 15 minute mark (some take 20 minutes to begin to sweat)…then you would time them for the 35 minutes.

Also, I highly recommend that you have your client “move” for at least 5 – 10 minutes after an infrared session to help the body better rid itself of those toxins through the lymphatic system. I like to have my clients use a vibration machine following the session.

I hope this helps. Feel free to contact me if there is anything else I can help you with.

Wishing you the best of success,

      Andrea
