Florida Body Wrapping Certification

Florida 12 Hour Required Body Wrapping Certification Course

Body Wrapping Certification varies from state to state and it is recommended to contact your State Department of Regulations to make sure you and your business will be operating under the law required for performing body wraps.

A Body Wraping Certification and License, as of today, is only required by the state of Florida.

If you are not a licensed cosmetologist or do not have a Body Wrap License and you are doing body wraps… you are working illegally in the State of Florida.

YOU CAN START A BODY WRAP BUSINESS OR PERFORM BODY WRAPS IF YOU ARE NOT A LICENSED COSMETOLOGIST…BUT YOU MUST PASS THE REQUIRED 12 HOUR FLORIDA BODY WRAPPING CERTIFICATION.

In other words, some states may require no body wrap license or body wrap certification at all, other states may require a cosmetology license, a massage therapy license or an esthetics license to perform body wraps.  In the state of Florida you do not need any of those licenses prior to needing a body wrap certification license should you want to perform body wraps.

IF YOU ARE NOT a licensed cosmetologist in the State of Florida, a 12 Hour Body Wrapping Certification Course is required to perform body wraps.  The Florida State Requirements are as follows:

Three (3) hours of Instruction on HIV/AIDS and other Communicable Diseases

Four (4) hours of Instruction on Sanitation and Sterilization

Four (4) hours of Instruction on Disorders and Diseases of the Skin

One (1) hour of Instruction on Florida Laws and the Rules of the Board which affect and govern the practice of body wrapping.

As a student, you must present a valid Driver’s License, Social Security Card number, and a money order, cashiers check or paypal payment for the fee required (below) and a $30.00 money order payable to Department of Business and Professional Regulation.

You will also need to have two (2) passport pictures taken (one for the state and one for you to keep for your license), when submitting your required 12 Hour Florida Body Wrapping Certification paperwork from me.

  1. Nikki Jordan- Aesthetician

I am an esthetician in Florida and took my 12 hour body wrapping course in while attending school for my license, over 1200 hours of school instead of the required 260 hours. I was wondering if there was a way for us to do the option 2 at a slightly lower price, where I would be trained specifically in the wraps you offer (as I will be ordering these for my day spa room) and I could demonstate and complete any rigorous testing you would put me through. Mainly, Im just looking to not have to retake this whole 12 hour course. If there is anyway you would be able to help me, to see and know that I am well versed in my industry and the skills i have aquired from my education. Thank you 🙂
    Nikki

    • Hi Nikki, WOW on the hours you have spent on licensing! It is amazing to me that FL only requires 260 hours for esthetics. I had three times that amount of hours in IL. Please call me at 630-343-9730 and I will be happy to help you.

  2. to get the body wrap license do you have to be a massage therapist or a esthetician?

    • Andrea

      Hi Kendi,

Each State has different requirements as to becoming a body wrap technician. It is best to check the Department of Regulations in the State you wish to operate. FLORIDA is the only State as of today (July 28, 2012) that ONLY requires a 12 Body Wrap Certification Course and does NOT require you to also hold either a cosmetology, esthetician, or massage therapist license.

      Thank you for contacting me,

      Andrea

  3. Hi Andrea,
First of all, I want to thank you for your site. It is short, to the point and above all, it is very informative.
I live in Florida and was on the verge of looking into finding a college or institute that offered any of the courses that would allow me to qualify as a body wrap technician. And I am very happy to know that I can pay the requiered fees, provide a training location, take the 12 Hour Body Wrap Certification and be qualified to work. And option #1 would be my choice.
Just one more question please. I don’t have a salon yet and I have no idea what a suitable training location would be for you. Can you give me a suggestion please. Or does it mean I can’t take the course?
    Hoping to hear from you.
    Rebecca

    • Thank you for contacting me about body wrapping. I will be happy to help you in any way I can.

No problem about not having a spa or salon yet….Yes, you can absolutely take the course.

Just give me a call and I can explain everything to you. 630-343-9730

I look forward to chatting with you.

      Andrea

  4. Tammy Thibodeaux

im working for a spa i need a body wrap licencse working under a licence cosmetology which coarse do you recommend

    • Hi Tammy,

      Thank you for contacting me.

In the State of Florida, a 12 Hour Body Wrapping Certification Course is required to perform body wraps. It has nothing to do with learning body wrapping! The Florida State Requirements are as follows: Instruction on HIV/AIDS and other Communicable Diseases, Instruction on Sanitation and Sterilization, Instruction on Disorders and Diseases of the Skin, Instruction on Florida Laws and the Rules of the Board which affect and govern the practice of body wrapping.

I will be happy to Certify you and help you in any way I can….with the hope that you love body wrapping and the many great benefits it can provide to your clients.

You can take the course with me via Skype or Facetime, as the course and testing has to be done face to face. By taking the Certification this way, you will save time and money that travel expenses can incur.

Please feel free to contact me directly, if you have any further questions and would like to begin Certification.

IF YOU LIVE OUTSIDE OF FLORIDA AND WOULD LIKE CERTIFICATION AND NEED YOUR CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS, I can also help you with that and provide you with 7 hours of certification.

      Take Care,
      Andrea

  5. Hello,
First Thank you the informative website!, I live in Florida and a LMT, and CT
I have all the necessary courses HIV/AIDS, required for both my LMT and CT Colon Hydro-therapist, (I-act Level II Certified) Could you please adivise me as to the additional class that I would need.. We would like to add body wrap to our menu.

    Thanks again

    • Hi Danette,

Thank you for contacting me. I will be happy to help you in any way I can. I also emailed you with my cell number to contact me directly.

In the meantime, you probably have the necessary testing for HIV/AIDS, Sanitation and Sterilization, and Disorders and Diseases of the Skin because of your LMT and CT certification. Which means we will have to just go over everything to make sure it is all correct, and we can meet the requirements so that you can submit everything and a certificate from me to the State of Florida to be able to body wrap.

We can also discuss, what type of body wraps you want to offer to your clients and how I can help you decide which kind and/or product to consider.

I look forward to speaking with you.

      Andrea

  6. TaCreacia

    Good Afternoon,

I am looking to opening a body wrap and skin care center in Central FL. Due to the training requirements I have not been able to find a location that offers flexibility. I work full time in another fill but have started to move more into opening my own spa. I travel a lot with my job and wanted to find out more about your training

    • Andrea

      Hi TaCreacia,

Thank you for contacting me about body wrap training and the 12 Hour Required Florida Certification.

I am happy to help you in any way I can. Please know that the 12 Hour Florida Body Wrap Certification does not have anything to do with actual body wrapping. The State of Florida requires these extra 12 hours: 3 hours of Instruction on HIV/AIDS and other Communicable Diseases, 4 hours of Instruction on Sanitation and Sterilization, 4 hours of Instruction on Disorders and Diseases of the Skin, and 1 hour of Instruction on Florida Laws and the Rules of the Board which affect and govern the practice of body wrapping.

I also emailed you, so that we can set up a time to chat so that I may answer all of your questions. You can also call me at 630-343-9730. I look forward to talking to you soon.

      Andrea

  7. Siobhan

    Hi Andrea,

I am an LMT in FL and am interested in getting certified in body wrapping. Seeing as I have taken FL law and HIV/aids, is there a way to figure out a package that lies in between?

  8. Michelle Pope

I reside in Florda and would like to start a body wrap business. How do I get certified in florida

    • Hi Michelle,

Thank you for contacting me. If you are have a cosmetology license, then you are ‘good to go’ with offering body wraps. If not, then you will need the 12 Hour Body Wrapping Certification Course required by the state of FL. This 12 Hour Course contains no actual ‘body wrap training,’ and only requires to pass specific information. Here is the link for the course. However, by taking the course through me, I will also train you on body wrapping and will have you taking clients in as little as one week.

Please feel free to call me at 630-343-9730 or email me at Andrea@SpalonTechniques.com with any more questions you may have.

  9. Hi Andrea,
I just recently became an LMT. I live in Florida, would I only need to be certified in order to do body wrapping since I’m now an LMT? If so, do you have package as a starter that incl. the certificate and supplies. I am interested in starting my business but, not sure how to start and I am only mobile right now… Any advise you can share? Looking forward to your response. 🙂

    Barbie

    • Hi Barbie,

Thank you for contacting me. I will do my best to help you.

In the state of Florida, unless you are a licensed Cosmetologist you will need a body wrap certificate, which is the 12 Hour Florida Certification Body Wrapping Course. It is quite deceiving since it really has nothing at all to do with body wrapping, but only the knowledge pertaining to sanitation / sterilization, infectious / contagious diseases, and disorders and diseases of the skin…. no body wrapping is actually required for that….which makes no sense at all. 🙂

What I believe the state wants is that if you learn to wrap by a manufacturer of a product then you will have to meet the above requirements I just stated in order to keep the community safe.

If you need to learn how to wrap, which will also include and meet the FL requirements here is the link

      https://www.spalontechniques.com/body-wraps/body-wrap-training/

Please feel free to contact me at 630-343-9730 with any questions you may have.

Barbie, don’t hesitate, as I am very happy to help you…and point you in the right direction.

      Be well,
